Ramadan in Tokyo

Ramadan is not culturally observed in Tokyo. The city operates on its normal schedule with no special accommodations, awareness, or community atmosphere. Fasting is a personal discipline, not a shared social experience.

Best mosques for Tarawih

Al-Taqwa Mosque (Ota Ward, main community mosque, modest capacity ~200, basic atmosphere); Tokyo Camii (Minato Ward, Turkish mosque, formal setting, ~500 capacity, not typically advertised for tarawih); small prayer rooms in central mosques do not reliably offer organized nightly programs.

What changes during Ramadan

Virtually nothing. Restaurants remain open during daylight hours with no special Ramadan hours or menus. Mosques do not have prominent tarawih programs, and there are no Ramadan bazaars, night markets, or community iftaar gatherings. Public spaces show no Ramadan decorations or signage.
